Thanks for coming over to my blog!
Your series of photos is stunning. First I only saw the beauty of the colours and then I began to realise that a deathly struggle was going on.

SandyCarlson said...

Wow! That's hard to watch on one level and beautiful on another. Thanks.

Fantastic shots.

That poor little bird. I didn't realize birds ate other birds. They're great pictures but it will leave me thinking about that for a little bit.

Great colors. But I hate the way I feel now. I didn't realize what was going on at first. I'm an oversensetive animal freak and wonder why in the world God made such a system where humans and animals "kill" and eat other living things!

Anyway, nice blog. I am a newbie. I think it is so cool to meet people from around the world!

First, the photo's are stunning, great job and capture. The subject matter, why hard to take is natures way, animals must kill to eat.

Hi Doc,
I didn't know that barbets are such fierce predators! I thought they are mostly fruit-eaters and maybe eat some insects, but birds too? That's new to me.

Those are amazing shots!

I can never get to used to seeing a bird eat another bird ... except for raptors. I hope the little bird died quickly. Beautiful haunting pictures! There is no romanticizing nature... there is a constant hunt going on... those that hunt are also hunted.

SandyCarlson said...

These are really beautiful. I so admire your work.

MedaM said...

Absolutely amazing series of photos although it is also a sad photo story that I was watching with my mouth opened.

Ann, Chen Jie Xue 陈洁雪 said...

WOW!!!!! did you hide behind leaves camouflage to take these photos?

Ann, Chen Jie Xue 陈洁雪 said...

what do you do? Build a little leaves tent so the birds don't see you? How long did you hide before you saw the bird with it's prey.

I was so lucky to see my Paradise ducks especially when I googled that it is a partially protected bird.

When I was living in Singapore, in NTU, a pair of Hill Mynahs pecked at my bedroom door. My friends say if I ctach it and sell it, I could get $500.

I googled and found it is endanger species.
